At 24 years of age, Chun-shek Chan is an aspiring TV journalist, a world-traveler and a true jack-of-all-trades.
After spending 19 years in Hong Kong, where he was born and raised, Chun-shek now lives in Brookline, Massachusetts, United States. He is the kind of person who grabs his passport and backpack and takes off for a week or two at a whim. He is constantly looking for new places to see and new people to meet. Although Chun-shek is a big-city kind of guy, he fits quite well in a small town, as long as something keeps him busy.
Chun-shek speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin Chinese, French and German, and can understand some Spanish and Icelandic. Being able to talk to people from around the world excites him. He loves deciphering roadsigns and restaurant menus in exotic languages.
Chun-shek is a news-junkie. He is constantly keeping up with things happening in the world. His passion for current affairs led him to his decision to pursue journalism for his graduate studies. When he's not running around town covering news stories, he can be found at home editing his news packages, or interning at a humble little daily newscast at a public access station.
Despite calling himself a "geek-defector," Chun-shek is an experienced programmer. He likes web technologies and internationalization because they connect computers and people closer together than they have ever been. He is a loyal disciple of the Jeffrey Zeldman school of all things web, despite being a "geek-defector."
For the past few years, Chun-shek worked at a police station as a part-time dispatcher, and volunteered on an Emergency Medical Services squad. His involvement with these public safety agencies are now over, and he is looking forward to new challenges in life.
He is a full-time optimist, wears boxer briefs, and is a pretty nice guy.
